Showcase of Work
Literacy
The online MA in education program at Michigan State has enhanced my professional practice while building on prior professional experience and engaging in a dynamic online community. My concentration area is Literacy Education, which focuses on reading, writing, listening and speaking- the main components in an elementary classroom.
Video Publishing
I had many opportunities to publish my projects through out my MAED courses. For this particular assignment in CEP 800, I used the technology iMovie and YouTube. In this slideshow I used images, voice recording, and music to incorporate into my message about teaching strategies.
Reflecting
In TE 838, I reflected on the politics of interpretation and thought about the issues surrounding fidelity to the original. For one particular module I read the novels and watched the movies of Jumanji, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Polar Express, and The Little Mermaid.
Voice Recording
For this assignment I used Garageband to conduct an interview on science misconceptions. Music and transitions were added to complete the project. Click button below to listen!
Teaching Awards and Classics
Both awards and classics of children's literature are part of what we consider "literary history" for children. In TE 836, I was introduced to the many awards and classics of children's literature.
Accommodating Different Literacy Learners
This case study focuses on assessing and developing literacy instruction for a child. This child I chose to focus on was a current student in my kindergarten classroom. I created a series of lesson plans to address her specific literacy needs.
